A first class training programme
Carlisle United Football Club is passionate about what happens off the field as well as on it, and we take fan safety and comfort very seriously.
The behind the scenes planning and work that goes into the preparation for each match day is without compromise, with the enjoyment and safety of fans at the very top of the list.
The development and qualification of the stewards who look after fans on match days is part and parcel of ensuring staff are competent and that our fans are safe.
Using ‘The Edge’ funding, System People has delivered first class training programmes to ensure the stewards are trained and qualified to nationally recognised standards – NVQ level 2.
Safety officer John Little said: “System People have helped our stewards to achieve the high standards necessary to qualify for the Spectator Safety qualification.
“The training and assessment process has integrated with our internal safety systems and has ensured our staff are capable of dealing with all situations. The programme has improved our safety capability and has most definitely given us ‘The Edge’.”
The Safety Advisory Group held a ‘During Performance’ inspection of stewards at Brunton Park and found their knowledge levels to be excellent, with nil deficiencies found in any of the topics covered.
The Edge is Skills Support for the Workforce Project funded by ESF and co-financed by the Skills Funding Agency.
