ACADEMY: Clip 'n Climb Maryport

U12 lads take on the Blackpool Tower challenge

You may recall we revealed, back in December, that the Carlisle United u12 academy team will be entering the Keele International Tournament on behalf of the club again this year - but entry to the competition comes at a cost of approximately £3,000.

The lads, to their credit, have set about the task of raising the money through a variety of fund raising methods ... one of which was a fantastic challenge at the all-new Clip 'n Climb facility at Maryport.

Each player was set the task of climbing the equivalent height of Blackpool Tower and they had just one hour each in which to complete the feat.

And we are delighted to be able to say that every single player completed the challenge with flying colours!

Academy coach Ben Benson said: "I'm glad to say all the lads completed the Blackpool Tower challenge.

"They all loved the Clip 'n Climb facility and had a huge amount of fun at the same time as raising a massive £600 towards the cost of getting to the tournament. We would like to thank all the players for their efforts and it was certainly a fantastic team bonding opportunity.

"We would also like to thank the staff at Clip 'n Climb Maryport for their wonderful support. We couldn't have raised this amount of money without them.

"All of our players were great ambassadors for the football club and we now look forward to entering the tournament in July."
