Keith Curle on players made available for loan
Manager Keith Curle confirmed the names of the eight players made available for loan and the reasons for the decision at his Thursday morning press conference.
“We have eight players available for loan – Josh Gillies, Sean O’Hanlon, Alex Marrow, Billy Paynter, Matt Robson, Antony Sweeney, Dave Symington and Connor Thomson,” he confirmed. “At the time when we made them available they weren’t getting enough game time.
“I’m mindful of the fact the longer the season goes on the more they need to be playing regular football. We told them that if an opportunity came along, and it suited them and us, we would consider it.”
“You have to take into consideration where they’re at, in terms of it being the latter stages of their contract, and that they may need to get contracts elsewhere,” he added. “Having said that, if they’re still here and they get an opportunity to perform it’s a chance to showcase what they’re about.
“If they play well they can potentially get suitors for next season if I decide they aren’t needed here. But the door isn’t closed to anyone at this football club. If players give us the performances, even though they have been made available, there is nothing to say they won’t be still with us next season.”
