December update on the academy linked club scheme
Academy coach Ben Benson gave us an update on the linked club scheme now that the season has reached the half way point:
“I would like to thank the four teams involved for their help and ongoing support.
The teams selected for the 2014/15 season were:
Cleator Moor Celtic
Bransty Rangers
Cotehill Crusaders
Carlisle City FC
These teams have been fantastic to deal with. Part of the linked club agreement is to play friendly games against the academy, and all of the teams have delivered on this and have been fantastic representatives for the grassroots clubs in the county.
The teams have also benefitted from receiving signed merchandise which we hope will help them to raise funds in the very near future.
The linked club coaching staff have benefitted from the arrangement by gaining access to training sessions, In addition, they were given the opportunity to gain a better understanding of our academy philosophy by attending our academy open evening events.
As we go into the second half of the season we have more friendly fixtures, bespoke coaching sessions (including keeper sessions) and another academy open evening planned.
Another benefit of this scheme is that each linked club can get a bespoke agreement to best suit their needs. For example, some have requested goalkeeping coaching sessions, whereas others have asked for coach education. We have tried to offer packages to suit each of our clubs involved.
We have had fantastic feedback from the teams and we look forward to continuing to work with them across the remainder of the season.
Looking ahead, our aspiration is to increase the size of the scheme to seven linked clubs for next season.
If you would like your club to be considered for the linked club scheme for the 2015/16 season, please send an email to ben.benson@carlisleunited.co.uk or call 07955 275 670 for more information.”
