NCS students hand over cheque to Mayor of Carlisle

The Carlisle United NCS summer cohort students took pride of place in the Council Chambers on Wednesday when they handed over £660 to Mayor Stephen Bowditch for one of his nominated charities – Mencap.

The cheque presentation, made by Lucy Wright, Martha Clark and Joe Shannon, was followed by a tour of the Chambers and, as you can see below, Aaron Glendinning, Matthew McDonald, Joe Hodgson, Lucy Wright and Matthew Cupac all got to sit in the council leader’s seats as part of their viewing experience.

NCS coordinator John Sander said: “The NCS summer cohort has done really well to raise this amount of money and the Mayor was delighted to be able to say thank you to them in person.

“It was fantastic of him to invite us along for a tour of the Chambers and it was great for the students to get to see behind the scenes at such an important place.

“The students have been a credit to themselves and the club in the way they have conducted themselves and it is wonderful to see the money they’ve raised go to such a worthwhile cause.”
