Graham Kavanagh with pre-match thoughts ahead of the Cheltenham trip
Manager Graham Kavanagh spoke to us ahead of the trip to Cheltenham on Tuesday night.
“We’re obviously still very disappointed from the weekend,” he said. “We didn’t play anywhere near the levels we know we can and we now have to organise ourselves very quickly for the next one.
"We need to get back to the drawing board pretty quickly and we need to start getting results. There were a lot of silly, individual errors at Wycombe which you really can’t legislate for.
“The frustrating thing is that we don’t see it from a Monday to a Friday. We’ve seen in pre-season how good they can play, but that means nothing. This is the real stuff now and this is where it matters. We need to get back to that level of performance.”
“We’re not squeezing the pitch up as a back four and that’s something we know the players are capable of doing,” he told us. “This is League Two football and if we play more in their half, and if we compete and scrap more than the opposition do, then we will get chances.
“As a manager you pick a team you think will get a result and that’s exactly what I’ll be doing again for Cheltenham. That hasn’t happened in the last two league games but I’m confident this group of players will turn things round.
“It’s going to be a tough game, we know that, because they’ve had a couple of very good results. They have that bit of confidence we’re trying to find at the moment and it will be up to us to get in their faces and make life difficult for them.
“We’ve worked on Sunday on how we want to approach the game and we’ll do the same today. Hopefully it will all come together to get us the performance and result we all want.”
