The latest on the injury situation
Manager Graham Kavanagh brought us up to date with the injury situation ahead of the visit of Swindon Town on Saturday.
“The injury situation is definitely improving,” he said. “It’s not fantastic news, because we don’t have lots returning, but Paul Thirlwell got his game under his belt last weekend and he’s had another good week of training. Matt Robson will do a bit of light training this morning [Friday] and, all being well, we’ll get a full week with him next week.
“Pascal [Chimbonda] could be back and involved, because he’s trained, and hopefully he’ll be fine. David Amoo is another who has trained and looked good, so he’s another option for us.”
“Lee Miller will see a specialist this evening to clarify one or two little issues with his stomach and we’ll know more about him after that,” he continued. “Liam Noble is getting better, slowly, but we’re going to get him in to a specialist next week as well.
“We are getting one or two back but the situation is what it is and we’ve just got to get on with it. We do have options in terms of team selection and, as I’ve said before, I’ll pick players who perform well in training and who I trust.
“If players show me anything which is as good as, or better than, what we’re doing then I’ll play them. It comes down to getting the best out of the squad for the team we’ll be playing against, and with the system we’ll be playing.
“I think everybody understands where we are and they know the importance of the situation we’re currently in. I need all hands on deck and as long as they are prepared to put themselves forward for contention then I’m more than happy with that.
