Jordan Pickford on clean sheets and results
Keeper Jordan Pickford spoke to us about his fourth clean sheet of the month from the Tranmere game on Saturday and about the importance of getting results from the games to come.
“I thought it was another good point for us at the weekend,” he said. “We created a lot of chances and if we’d scored just one of them I think we’d have kept it comfortable. That just wasn’t to be, but we played really well defensively and we deserved to keep the clean sheet.
“It’s obviously important not to concede a goal, particularly when the other team is on top. We’ve managed that in a few games so far over the last few weeks and it gives us something to build on.”
“Clean sheets is what every keeper wants,” he added. “Like I say, if we do that then it gives us every chance of winning games. We’ll look to do the same again next Saturday and hopefully we’ll get the three points to go with it.
“We have to remember that we are a young group but this experience is really for good for us. Everyone is coming in and doing a good job at the moment and we know we just need to get out of this situation now. We know what needs to be done and we’re determined to do it.”
And on his own form, he said: “I’ve made a couple of decent saves, but that’s my job. We’re all working together as a team, with balls being cleared off the line and things like that, so it’s down to all of us. We’re defending well and we keep saying the same thing because all we want now is to turn it into victories.”
“We know how important the next run of games is,” he confirmed. “There are some tough games coming but we know, if we perform well, we can get the results. That’s what we’ll be going out there to do.
“Swindon are pushing for the play-offs, but we’re looking forward to it, and we know we can get a result if we start properly and play well. Every game is big for us at the moment, but the manager is keeping the pressure away from us. He wants us to go out and play our football and I think we’ve been doing that. All we want now is the results.”
