Graham Kavanagh on potential loan signings
United manager Graham Kavanagh revealed that he was close to getting two loan signings 'over the line' ahead of this weekend's visit to Shrewsbury.
"We are looking at getting one or two in and we have one or two irons in the fire," he said. "Hopefully something might happen with that today.
"There is one where it looks like we have agreed things with the club and we now just need to agree with the player. It's something I've learned, even from this short period in charge, that you get close to deals you think are done and they very quickly get taken away from you.
"We all get excited with the names that are thrown about and we are close with one or two, but until they are over the line you can never be sure. The chairman and managing director have been different class and they are helping us as much as they can so we'll just have to wait and see where we go with it."
Meanwhile the United boss admitted that an early return from Swindon for Troy Archibald-Henville was unlikely at this stage.
"We're interested in bringing him back but he's not our player," he said. "We're allowing his situation to progress and Swindon have one or two issues they want to get resolved.
"Once we are clear on Troy's injury then hopefully we will be able to make a better judgement. However if he was fit, and if he was available, then we would definitely want him back."
