LOAN: Defender heads to Penrith

Gwinnutt to go out on loan

United defender Brandon Gwinnutt will join Ebac northern league side Penrith AFC on loan next Wednesday for a one-month loan spell which will keep him at Frenchfields Park until 20 November 2013.

Gwinnutt, 18, will not be eligible for the FA Vase home tie against Morpeth on Saturday under the loan player rule so will sign for the Blues on Wednesday next week.

"This is a good opportunity for Brandon to go out and get some regular senior football," first team coach Tony Caig said. "I know Matt Henney well and I know he always treats his players properly.

"Penrith have a busy month coming up so there is a real chance for him to get some pitch time. That's something we can't guarantee for him at this moment in time.

"With it being local we will also to be able to get along to watch him, which is important, and he will also still be able to train with us during the week. It should be a move that will work out well for all concerned."

The right back came through the United youth system to earn his first professional contract at the end of last season but is yet to make a first team appearance for the Cumbrians having suffered with illness at the start of the campaign.
