Greg Fleming on the Boreham Wood game
Goalkeeper Greg Fleming spoke to us following his appearance and penalty save against Boreham Wood on Tuesday night.
"Every footballer wants to be playing football so it has been nice to get a few games under my belt," he said. "I do get some nerves, the Fleetwood game was my first competitive game in something like seven months, so it was on my mind a little bit. Once you get a few touches of the ball and the first ten minutes out of the way you then can start to relax.
"I have been happy enough with my performances over the two games. I was disappointed to go the wrong way for the penalty on Tuesday night but I'm obviously pleased I managed to save the second one."
"I wasn't too sure about what to do for the second penalty," he admitted. "I actually heard the lad who was taking it say that he was going to go the same way again, so that was why I went to my left.
"He was talking to the striker about it so I'm not sure if he said it deliberately as a double bluff or not. Like I say, I don't know if he wanted me to hear it, but I took a chance and thankfully managed to push it round the post."
"I've seen a few people saying that my save kept us in the competition but I'm not sure about that," he said. "It probably helped us get the result but the lads worked very hard after that to get the goals.
"I have got quite a good record on penalties. At the start of my career I saved five out of six, but I think it's about 50% now. You've just got to make your decision and stick by it really. Unless you really know the penalty then it's always a bit of a guess.
"It's always nice to get a hand to a penalty but you see a lot of keeper's who get a touch and it still goes in. As soon as I'd saved it I was trying to see where the ball had gone and thankfully it went out for a corner."
"It's nice to put in a performance like that, and get praise from Kav after the game, but he'll also tell you if you do something wrong," he admitted. "Hopefully my performance will give him something to think about ahead of the game on Saturday."
"I didn't see much of the commotion after our second goal but I did hear some of the comments from their players," he continued. "I suppose you've just got to say what goes around comes around. The most important thing is that we're still in the FA Cup."
"I've had to work really hard since I came here," he admitted. "I needed to lose a bit of weight and I knew that. I've been doing extra work in the gym and I think I've actually lost more than I needed to, so I'm feeling good at the moment.
"I've really enjoyed working with Mark [Gillespie]. We both know only one of us can play and he's been playing very well this season. All I've been doing is supporting him as best as I can and giving him any advice that he's asked for."
