United help homeless Gateshead
Brunton Park is set to play host to Gateshead Football Club's Blue Square Bet Premier home fixture against Luton Town on Saturday 6 April following discussions between the clubs last week.Details are yet to be finalised but the Cumbrians have stepped in to help as Gateshead continue to play their home fixtures away from the International Stadium.
'The Heed' face a battle for survival at the end of a season that has become a real test since they played their last home game on their own turf - a 1-0 defeat to Barrow at the beginning of the year.
"Gateshead are playing most of their home games at Hartlepool's Victoria Park but there is a clash on the weekend of the Luton game," managing director John Nixon explained.
"We are more than happy to step in and help as we will be away at Oldham on that day. There are still one or two things to sort out but everything is just about in place which will allow Gateshead to play their game here."
More details will appear on the Gateshead FC website as soon as they have been finalised.
