Diane Jenkins makes kind donation
United chairman Andrew Jenkins returned form the Football League annual meeting in Portugal this week with a rather special memento – courtesy of his wife Diane.
As part of the 125 years of the Football League celebrations league officials commissioned the making of 30 replica footballs – as used all those years ago when things first kicked off towards the end of the 19th Century.
Each of the 30 tables, set for the AGM evening dinner, had a ball placed as a centre-piece ... with the striking replica subsequently being made available as a prize at the end of the event.
And we are delighted to announce that Diane Jenkins walked away with ball number 8 on the night.
Not only that, but Diane has kindly passed this fantastic item onto the club for safekeeping.
“It’s fantastic for us to have one of these, as only 30 were made,” Andrew Jenkins said.
“Diane said straight away that it should go in the trophy cabinet in our boardroom and that seems as good an idea as any.
“We have it in there now and it's a fantastic way for us to mark 85 years since we first gained our membership in the Football League.”
