United to face Blackburn at home
Carlisle United Football Club have been drawn at home to face Blackburn Rovers in the first round of this season's Capital One Cup competition."I think I've said this before, but all you can ever ask for in any cup competition is a home draw," manager Greg Abbott said. "We've got that, and this is a game that we can all now really look forward to.
"Gary [Bowyer] will want his side to come here and do the job, but he'll know that we will give them a tough test.
"We have the first league game of the season to prepare for on the Saturday and then this one will follow on very quickly from that, so we have to hit the ground running.
"Blackburn are a really good side and, as we saw with Ipswich and Tottenham last season, it's a competition which can get very exciting very quickly.
"We want to get some momentum going at the start of this season and making sure we are in the draw for round two would go a long way to helping us to achieve that."
Ties to be played week commencing 5 August 2013 - full match details to follow.
