New development centre in South Lakes area
Carlisle United are delighted to announce that we will be setting up a new academy development centre in the South Lakes area for u7, u8, u9 & u10 players.
And, to kick things off, there will be an open day on Sunday 7 July at Glaxo sports complex in Ulverston from 10am till 2pm. Please note, this open day will be free of charge.
Academy coach Ben Benson said: "We think this will be a good way of establishing and developing new links in an area we generally struggle to recruit from.
"After players have been selected from the open day we will do a regular coaching programme which will coincide with school terms. The first programme is due to start on Wednesday 11 September at Ulverston Victoria High School.
"The aim is to sweep the area for any good players who may be in that part of the county. That's usually because, at this age, they still want to play locally with their friends. With the development centre they get the best of both worlds, as they can play and train with their friends at their grassroots club at the same time as training with us."
"If they do well at the development centre then naturally they will step up to the main academy," he continued.
"Brian Dawson, the u9 academy coach, will be running the sessions as he is local to the area. That means we can limit the travelling times for players and coaches as we provide some valuable sessions and, hopefully, find new recruits to join us at our main academy."
To register for the open day please contact Brian Dawson on 07743 428 320 or Ben Benson on 07955 275 670 for further details.
