Youth team boss to take post
Carlisle United Football Club are delighted to announce that former-Annan, Gretna and Stenhousemuir manager Davie Irons will be joining the coaching staff as Head of Youth Development here at Brunton Park.
Glasgow-born Irons, 51, has a wealth of experience with a playing career which spanned over 26 years north of the border.
The versatile central defender / midfielder is a fully qualified coach who has most recently worked with the Cumbrians as a scout alongside his full-time career with the police.
“We are delighted that Davie Irons is going to join us because he is exactly the type of candidate we were looking for to fill what is a key role,” managing director John Nixon said.
“He has vast experience within the game and, importantly, brings contacts and knowledge which will build on the good work which has been done on the youth development side of the club in recent years.
“We know that he will continue to drive things forward and I speak on behalf of the chairman and board of directors when I say that we are all looking forward to working with him.”
United’s newest recruit will take up his new post at the end of this month.
