Gillies transfer finalised
Carlisle United Football Club can confirm that a compensation agreement has been reached with Gateshead FC and that the transfer of attacking midfielder Josh Gillies to Brunton Park has now been finalised.
“The clubs have worked closely together over the last few weeks to make sure we could resolve the issues amicably and we’re pleased to say that is now the case,” managing director John Nixon said.
“The important thing was that we were able to keep the lines of dialogue open and that has allowed us to get to a position where we are able to conclude the deal to the satisfaction of all concerned.”
Gillies, 22, teamed up with the Cumbrians for pre-season at the beginning of July having agreed personal terms on a two-year deal.
The Sunderland-born player enjoyed an excellent season last term as he bagged 15 goals for Gateshead and he can also boast a strike in the FA Vase at Wembley as he helped Whitley Bay to retain the trophy for a second successive season prior to his move to the Blue Square Bet Premier side.
