INTERVIEW: Home form is imperative

Matt Robson on stolen goals

With three back-to-back home wins under the belt confidence is high within the dressing room at Brunton Park as the lads get ready for the visit of Scunthorpe on Saturday.

Key to this upturn in form has been goals in each of those games from winger Matty Robson.

“Just to be playing week in and week out has been my aim since the start of the season,” he said.

“Getting a few goals to add to that has been very satisfying. I set myself the target of double figures for the season so I’m three quarters of the way there!”

And his tally would have been eight had his deflected strike against Hartlepool been allowed to stand with his name in the ‘scorer’ column.

“It was on target and it put us on the way to winning the game,” he explained. “The referee gave it as an own goal, and there’s nothing we can do about that, so I might have to have a few words with him when I see him next.”

Talking about the side’s form, Robson admitted that results at Brunton Park are key to the bid to move on and up the table.

“It’s massive,” he told us. “Your home form is imperative and it’s something you’ve got to build the foundations on. Three good wins at home has given a lift to players, staff and fans alike.

“Saturday will be a good test between two sides in good form. I think we have enough to see them off. If we do that we’ll be edging further and further away from the bottom four and that’s what we all want.”
