Chantler takes advice from surgeon
United defender Chris Chantler has been ruled out for the remainder of the season following a visit to see an ankle specialist this week.
“Following further consultations with our ankle surgeon, it was decided Chris would undergo surgery immediately rather than wait until the summer,” physio Neil Dalton explained.
“This was decided as the best way forward to ensure he will be fit for the beginning of next pre-season. Unfortunately this means he will play no further part in this campaign.
“He will now have a period of two weeks of rest, in plaster, before we begin his rehabilitation programme.”
Chantler, 22, made his last appearance for the club in the 1-0 home win over Coventry City last month and has completed 31 appearances this season in total having made the left back slot his own.
The versatile utility man joined United on a permanent 18-month deal following a successful loan spell during the January 2012 transfer window.
