INJURY: Defender returns to parent club

James at Old Trafford for treatment

Loan defender Reece James has returned to Old Trafford today for assessment on a thigh problem picked up during the first half of the Blackburn Rovers thriller on Wednesday evening.

James, 20, joined United from the Premier League giants during pre-season and has impressed as he continues to develop in the left back role.

He indicated to the bench that it felt uncomfortable during the game and was subsequently substituted shortly before half time.

"As usual in cases like this we tend to send the player back to their parent club, so he is now with them for a full assessment," physio Neil Dalton told us.

"We should hear from them by the end of tomorrow and we'll know where we're taking it from there."
