Result from the Tuesday game
Alex Salmon brought early joy for the young Cumbrians this afternoon when he gave United the lead with less than 45 seconds on the clock, but visitors Rochdale were quickly back on level terms as they exploited the set-piece Achilles heel to grab a goal from a corner.
Connor Thomson restored the lead but Rochdale battled back once more to make it frustrating for the home side who were playing the better of the football.
A second for Thomson appeared to have settled the nerves but United were made to pay for missed opportunities when Dale grabbed a late point courtesy of a sucker punch deep into time added on.
"We've only got ourselves to blame," youth boss Eric Kinder said.
"We played well enough to have won it but we haven't taken chances and we've conceded some sloppy goals."
Full reaction from Eric Kinder to follow.
