Manager ahead of the Doncaster trip
United manager Greg Abbott spoke to us about the Tuesday evening trip to face table-toppers Doncaster Rovers.
“Doncaster are a side who have found that level of consistency which we all strive for,” he said.
“They are deservedly top of the table and they will be looking to round things off as quickly as possible. We know all about the threats they will pose and this is one where we will have to go into it in exactly the right frame of mind.”
“They’ll have a crowd there who will be pushing them on because they will be desperate to get back into the Championship,” he added. “This is a tough league to get out of and we are another team who are going there with no intention of just rolling over.
“We go into it in a very good frame of mind. The first half in particular on Saturday was as good as we have played for a long time and we want more of that.
“We’ve made ourselves very hard to beat recently. I think it’s now one defeat in the last seven and that’s testament to the way the lads want to finish things off for our club. It hasn’t always been pretty or pleasing on the eye, but we’ve worked hard and we’ve got ourselves into a position where we can start to think about picking up a bit of momentum to take everyone into the summer with a positive mindset.”
“This is another of those games where it’s about managing the occasion as well as concentrating on your football,” he said. “Doncaster are on a high and if we allow that to affect us we will cause ourselves problems.
“We have to concentrate on our game and earn the right to play our football. It’s a game we are looking forward to and, hopefully, we will bring back another good result.”
