Match reaction from the midfielder
United midfielder Liam Noble gave us his reaction to the 3-1 victory on Tuesday evening.
“I think the win was probably a relief for the fans with the way things have gone at home, but I think we’ve been playing some good football,” he said.
“It was good for us to get the three points and I think we deserved it. Even when we went in at half time we knew we just had to keep playing the way we were. The goal came and we kicked on after that.”
“With that one I saw the ball, got it, and it was in my mind just to have a shot,” he admitted. “I’d had a couple before that but it just wouldn’t go in for me. I decided to stand it up to the far post thinking that Joe [Garner] would be there. Obviously he was and he put it in for us.
“We’ve been creating decent chances but we just haven’t been putting them away recently. It was a great ball in for the second one from Chants [Chris Chantler] and goals like that have been coming. If we can all start chipping in with a few and keep playing this way then we can definitely go on a run.”
“It’s good to be back in the team,” he added. “From a selfish point of view I want to stay in there and I seem to get a lot of the ball with the formation we’re playing at the moment. Once you have your place you don’t want to give it up, so I’ll keep doing what I can.
“I think I got back to the kind of form I want to be in on Tuesday. You go through spells in your career where it doesn’t go your way and you just have to get through it by working harder. As long as you are working hard for the team then the manager is going to be happy.
“I’m feeling confident but that’s because the team is playing well. I had to accept being on the bench this time because it was my own fault for getting sent off. The gaffer decided to play with a two in midfield and I couldn’t complain about that. As soon as it went back to a three I knew I had a chance, and that’s all you can wait for. Then it’s up to you to take it when it comes along.”
