Striker on the Oldham game
Wide man Danny Cadamarteri gave us his reaction to the home win against Oldham shortly after full time on Tuesday night.
“I think that win was massive for us,” he said. “After the last couple of results, especially at home, we needed a big performance. We needed points on the board as well so it was just what we needed.
“It was where we ground it out in the first half. We had a couple of chances but we dug in and held our own. When Joe [Garner] got the first goal it was a big relief for all of us because it meant we could go on and be on the front foot and we could express ourselves.”
“The result at Colchester was disappointing but that’s the same for any defeat,” he continued. “But we created so many chances in that one that on any other day we’d have come away with a win. You have to take the positives out of it and take that into your next game.”
“Oldham was a physical game but sometimes you have to deal with that part of it,” he said. “For me, I’m just glad to be playing. I want minutes on the pitch whether that’s out wide, down the middle or anywhere else.
“I’m enjoying playing games but the result will always be the most important thing. In general I’m pleased with how I’m playing but I do still want to add a few more goals to my tally. If I end up with a few assists and goals that help us to get into the play-offs then I’ll be delighted.”
“It was good to get the three points because the fans have stood behind us,” he admitted. “We’ve had a couple of disappointing results and this one gives them something to enjoy. We want to make our home ground into a fortress and it’s good to get a performance which will hopefully push us on from here.
“The game against Bournemouth will be another test for us but it will also be a test for them. They’ll be full of confidence, but so are we. We’ll have to go out there and win our physical battles first and then we can do what we know we can do.”
