The manager on the weekend away trip
United manager Greg Abbott spoke to us this morning about the trip to face Walsall at the weekend. He said: "I think the lads are more than ready to go following the postponement on Tuesday night.
"I think we said it down at Bury but there's nothing you can do about situations like that. Once the referee makes his decision, and we do think he made the right one by the way, then you have to think about what is going to be best for your players in terms of getting ready for the next one.
"We used Wednesday to give the lads a much needed break and that meant we could go at Thursday and Friday with a high tempo to the training. The aim is for us to take that into the game on Saturday and hopefully take the play to Walsall as well.
"They have had a very good start and they will be smarting from the way they lost the game against Orient on Tuesday night. They'll be looking for a positive reaction because they actually played well, so we'll have to be ready to deal with them as they try to assert themselves on the game.
"It's a good, tight ground and they have been talking this week about their attendances being up, but we seem to enjoy playing at stadiums like that. It will be up to us to do our thing to keep the home fans as quiet as possible. It's another venue where we always get a good following from our supporters and I'm sure they'll be behind us every step of the way, as usual.
"Our away form has been good recently and we want to build on that. Consistency will always be the aim, wherever we play, and we feel we played well last weekend even though we didn't get the result. We want to try and create the same number of chances and hopefully find that clinical streak which will turn them into goals.
"We go there in confident mood and hopefully we'll be coming back with smiles on our faces on Saturday evening."
