United at home in round two
The Carlisle United U18 side have been drawn at home to face Accrington Stanley in the second round of this season's Youth Alliance Cup.The young Cumbrians earned their place in round two following a hard-fought 4-2 victory over Rotherham in Yorkshire on Saturday.
Goals from Kyle Dempsey (2), Tom Berwick and Brandon Gwinnutt did the trick against the Millers and coach Eric Kinder will be looking for more of the same when this tie is played early in December.
"We opened our season with a 3-0 home victory over Accrington but that will stand for nothing in terms of this tie," he said. "They have a new set of staff in and they had a fantastic win [5-4] over Doncaster at the weekend. That tells us they are a good side.
"You always want a home game and we've got that, but we still have to do it right. They will want to stay in the competition as much as we do and they'll come up here to give us a test. It'll be another good game and one we can look forward to."
