Good work out for the Blues
A United XI travelled across to Barnsley for what turned out to be a hard-fought reserve game this afternoon with the Cumbrians earning a 1-1 draw thanks to a well taken goal from Rory Loy.Assistant manager Graham Kavanagh said: "We were due to play a game in the north-east on Monday but we had to cancel that one, so it was good of Keith Hill and his staff at Barnsley to agree to this.
"Both clubs had decent teams out and it gave us a chance to get a lot of our lads some valuable pitch time.
"It was played in exactly the right manner and it was a good test for us. It's great to see Rory [Loy] get on the score sheet and to get a full game under his belt in what were really testing conditions.
"It's been another very worthwhile day out for us and, once again, I'd like to thank everyone at Barnsley for the way they hosted us today."
