Statement from Carlisle United Football Club
Carlisle United Football Club can today confirm that there are no plans to carry out a review of the first team manager post following comments made on BBC Radio Cumbria last night by director Norman Steel.
Speaking on last night’s Sports Programme, Mr Steel said: “At this moment in time there are no plans to be looking at the manager’s situation. We feel that clubs often act too quickly following three or four poor results and we are confident that things will get better.”
However, he later suggested that manager Greg Abbott’s position would be reviewed at the end of January if results did not improve.
Chairman Andrew Jenkins said: “As chairman and on behalf of the board of directors I can confirm that there have been no discussions at all about the manager’s position and there have been no time frames set in any way by any member of the board.
“The views expressed to Radio Cumbria on Tuesday night were not representative of the feeling of the board of directors and are not a reflection of our current stance.”
