UNITED TO FACE PRESTON

Home tie for the Cumbrians in round one

Carlisle United have been drawn to face Preston North End at Brunton Park in the first round of this season's Johnstone's Paint Trophy competition.

The tie will be played week beginning Monday 3 September - full match details to follow.

Manager Greg Abbott said: "Things are coming thick and fast now the season is underway and the involvement in the Capital One Cup, and now this one, keeps things really interesting for us all.

"This is a competition we like, we've been to Wembley twice in the last three years, and we always go out there to do well and to do it properly.

"This is another great game for us to look forward to but we have to treat it in the same way as we dealt with the draw the other day. It's there, it's on our fixture list and we know what we will have to prepare for now, but we have the very important business of some league games to get ready for first.

"Let's get some momentum going with those and then we can really look forward to what we hope will be another good run in this fantastic competition."
