GET SOME GOOD PITCH TIME

Jake Jervis on coming to Carlisle

Birmingham striker Jake Jervis signed a one-month loan deal with Carlisle United this week and goes straight into the squad to face Portsmouth on Saturday as the Cumbrians look to bounce back from a disappointing result against Tranmere on Tuesday night.

We caught up with him shortly after he'd put pen-to-paper to get his reaction to the move.

He said: "I'm at a stage of my career where I just need to be playing.

"This gives me a chance to play at a decent standard against good teams and I'm looking forward to it. This has been a really quick process for me because I only found out about the interest after training on Tuesday. I said yes right away because I knew this would be a good club to come to."

"I like to score goals and hopefully I'll be the man to do that here," he added. "I do set personal targets but I tend to keep them to myself, but obviously I'm here to do as well as I can.

"I've had loan spells at other clubs and I've enjoyed those, and this is a bit of a step up, so I'm looking forward to the challenge. I've got a bit of pace, so I bring that to the mix, and I like to get on the ball and play. I think that should fit in with how Carlisle like to do things"

"I've been told to come here and get more experience and I've seen before that League One football is a really high standard," he continued.

"Most teams try to play football and I have a month to try and make an impact. If it goes well then we'll have to look if we can go further than the first month, but the important thing is for me to get some good pitch time under my belt first."
